ElectroDermal Screening (EDS)

Electro Dermal Screening (EDS) otherwise known as Meridian Stress Assessment (MSA) is a comprehensive evaluation of a person’s energetic health and balance. The meridian system was first discovered and utilized by the ancient Chinese healers approximately 5000 years ago. They discovered patterns of energy (chi) that travel throughout the body in channels along specific pathways that correspond to every tissue and organ of the body. These healers found ways to increase or decrease this energy through treatments that restore balance and health naturally. Treatments such as acupuncture, acupressure, and reflexology are all based on the meridian system. The origin of MSA dates back to 1950 when a German physician named Reinhold Voll, M.D. began his research on the meridian system of the body. His work established that Acupuncture points possess greater electrical conductivity than the surrounding tissue and any reaction of the body to stressors could be accurately measured and effectively treated using simple electronics. MSA technology can be compared to EMG (electromyography), EKG (electrocardiogram) and other technologies that measure electrical response on the surface of the skin. It is not used to diagnose or to treat disease as defined by Western medicine, nor is it used to define disease based on symptoms. MSA compliments other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

How is EDS performed?
MSA is a painless, non-invasive procedure. It uses a pen-like device that is touched to specific points on the hands and feet while a separate hand piece is held in one hand to complete the circuit of energy. All that is felt during the analysis is the pressure applied to the hands and feet by the practitioner with the pen-like device. A variety of meridian points are tested and a summary chart of results is shown. Your practitioner will then complete “stress testing” to determine if you are sensitive to certain substances or toxins. The practitioner will choose homeopathic, herbal or nutritional supplements based on the findings and your individual needs.

Is EDS FDA approved?
YES. The EDS device is recognized with the FDA as a biofeedback device under guidelines governing medical testing.

Can EDS be used on children?

How many sessions will it take to see results?
Every individual is unique. Some see results very quickly while others will take more time.

How long does the testing take?
The initial visit lasts about 60 minutes, with follow-up visits usually lasting 30-40 minutes depending on what is revealed during that visit.

Is MSA safe?
Yes. This technology is employed only as a topical evaluation, using 1.5 – 2.4 millivolts of electrical current.

These may be signs of meridian and/or nutritional imbalances:

  • allergies
  • bad breath
  • constipation
  • difficulty concentrating
  • digestive problems
  • eczema
  • fatigue
  • fibromyalgia
  • frequent illness
  • headaches
  • irritability
  • joint pains
  • mental confusion or exhaustion
  • mood swings
  • nausea
  • respiratory problems
  • ringing in ears
  • sinus problems
  • sleep Issues
  • weight issues

Applications of EDS: Evaluation of the balance state of the organs and tissues of the body on an energetic basis. Sensitivity testing to determine what a person reacts to (this could include foods, airborne substances, and chemicals.) Utilizing homeopathics, nutrition, herbals, and essential oils to improve meridian energy balance.
